Course 2021‑A, Seminar II: Preparation for the Intermediate Level

Seminar instructor: David Andruss, pianist and lecturer at the University of Würzburg, Germany

Piano Adventures, the most widely taught piano method in North America and much of Asia, sets a new standard for quality educational materials. Now also available in German!

In this two-day seminar, the second in the four-part teacher training for the Piano Adventures Basic Piano Method, the following topics will be addressed using Levels 3 & 4 of the curriculum:

  • Speed and independence of the fingers with a wrist loose
    different articulations and dynamics in both hands
  • legato pedal use
  • transposing
  • playing in all twelve major and minor five-finger scales
  • intensive study of the structure of the major scale including cadences, harmonizing melodies, working with lead sheets and improvisation
  • musical form

In summary: Level 4 marks the completion of the fundamentals.
Now students are thoroughly prepared for the intermediate level (levels 5 & 6)!

During the seminar, pianist David Andruss, lecturer at the University of Würzburg, will guide you in detail through the many pieces of the two levels and give you further valuable tips for using the piano method in individual and partner lessons. Practical training with the innovative multimedia tools of this teaching concept and the other additional materials will round off the seminar.

Upon completion of the seminar, participants will receive the Piano Adventures certificate for Seminar II.

If desired, certification as a Piano Adventures teacher can be obtained after attending all four training seminars and passing a subsequent examination.
